Davao City—The Department of Education Davao City Division spearheaded by the Schools Division Superintendent Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO V, in cooperation with the Department of Education-Learning Resources Management and Development System (DepEd-LRMDS), conducted the pilot testing of public safety modules at Sta. Ana National High School and Magallanes Elementary School on November 7, 2018.alt

The discussion on the Public Safety Module at Magallanes Elementary School.

“The module was a great help. As I have observed, the map of Davao City cannot be found in textbooks. As a result, the pupils do not have any idea where the Davao City fault lines are. With the help of this public safety module, pupils at present, will already have a grasp about the geographical and climactic conditions here in Davao City. This public safety module must be included in the curriculum, or integrated in the subject areas such as Science, Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao, and Araling Panlipunan. It is hoped that through this module, learners, in particular, will be fully informed about the necessary measures to be done during calamities and other emergency situations,” Mrs. Merly Sy, one of the demonstration teachers from Magallanes Elementary School, said in an interview.

“We must always be ready, in order to avoid any unfortunate circumstance at the face of calamities. We need to be educated,” John David Angcon, a student from Grade IV-Titanium, said.

“It was a good thing that we had a pre-conference. It paved the way for the presentation of the content. Because of that, the teacher already had an idea about the possible methods for the execution of teaching.  I am very happy that the teacher used the module excellently; the teacher exceeded my expectations, as the writer of this specific module. To me, this public safety module is most likely ready to be taught in the field. The pupils will surely understand the lessons, concepts, and applications found therein,” Ma’am  Aubrey E. Torrentira said during the post-conference.

According to Dr. Aris B. Juanillo, Education Program Supervisor of DepEd-LRMDS Division of Davao City, the public safety modules shall constantly undergo the processes of a thorough review, re-vision, and finalization before its scheduled launching and distribution to the field by December 2018. “We will ensure the improvement of our modules. That is our main purpose. We will do this for the sake of our students. Para sa bata, Para sa bayan,” Dr. Juanillo said, during the post conference.

The Department of Education Davao City Division spearheaded by the Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Maria Ines C. Asuncion CESO V, with the Assistant Schools Division Superintendents Dr. Emma Camporedondo CESE and Dr. Basilio Mana-ay Jr., CESE ensure their full commitment in creating educational programs in order to ensure the delivery of quality education for all students.
