DAVAO CITY— The Department of Education Davao City Division (DepEd) Learning Resource Management and Development System (LRMDS) conducted a Public Safety Module Evaluation at the Division Training Center, on Monday, September 10, 2018.alt

Councilor Mary Joselle Villafuerte (Third District, Davao City) with Dr. Aris B. Juanillo, LRMDS Education Program Supervisor, and the writers and illustrators from the DepEd Division of Davao City shared invaluable insights during the Public Safety Module Evaluation.

 “As teachers, we are all created with a purpose. The bottom line (here) is to help our learners achieve a bright future,” Dr. Aris B. Juanillo PhD, MDM, LRMDS Education Program Supervisor said in his speech.

The writers and illustrators from the DepEd Davao City convened to complete their respective manuscripts on public safety. These manuscripts will form part of the archives of the supplementary learning modules for grade school pupils in Davao City. 

DepEd Davao City Division gears up for ISO 9001:2015 Certification PDF Print E-mail

In pursuit to improve performance and to provide sound bases for sustainable initiatives, DepEd Davao City Division started its journey to the ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Certification with a Division-wide Awareness Seminar-Workshop last July 16-17, 2018 at the Apo View Hotel, Davao City. The seminar was participated by the Division Office’s top management and all non-teaching personnel. Succeeding activities included the preparation of Quality Policy, Objectives, Procedures, Plans, and Risk Assessment.


ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System Awareness Seminar

One significant result in line with the ISO preparation is the full implementation of the 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain). Relevant improvements in the work stations and surroundings evidently manifested everyone’s active participation. The first 5S Evaluation conducted last August 30, 2018 has positively impacted progress in all offices’ daily transactions.  The next round of 5S Evaluation will be randomly scheduled including another criteria, the 6th S, Safety. Dr. Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO V, Schools Division Superintendent, gladly encouraged everyone to continue improving until the culture of excellence is established.

After identifying the Internal Audit Team, ISO 19001:2011 Internal Quality Audit Training was conducted in order to train identified Internal Auditors on the procedures of Internal Audit. The two-day training effectively enhanced the auditing skills of all auditors.alt

Schools and learning centers were visited for a compliance audit on the implementation and monitoring of DepEd Programs, Projects, and Activities at their level. The first compliance audit has been conducted starting September 17, 2018 to the following schools: Pilar P. Rodriguez Integrated School, ALS Learning Center in Davao Central District, Davao City Special School, Mabini National High School, Davao City National High School, St. Martha’s Day Care and Tutorial Center- Kindergarten, Holy Cross of Davao – Bajada, Philippine Nikkei Jin Kai International School, Samson Polytechnic College of Davao, Inc., Ateneo de Davao University (Elementary), and Philippine Women’s College of Davao. Internal Audit at the Division level shall then follow to check the organization’s own requirements for its Quality Management System, its implementation and maintenance. Internal Audits independently work to verify the implementation, monitoring and technical assistance provided to schools, learning centers, and offices.alt

The Division ISO Team, led by Mr. Emmanuel Alpha D. Sicam, has been closely working with various offices to help improve the delivery of various services. SDS Asuncion continuously challenge all Division employees to do their part and help provide a world-class quality service to customers. “After undergoing ISO certification’s tedious processes, in the end, this is something that we, in DepEd Davao City Division will be proud of,” SDS Asuncion appreciatively remarked.


Coordination and Planning Conference for the 2019 DAVRAA and Palarong Pambansa PDF Print E-mail

DAVAO CITY ― The DepEd Schools Division of Davao City together with the representatives from the Local Government unit (LGU) of Davao held the Coordination and Planning Conference for the 2019 Davao Regional Athletic Association (DAVRAA) and the 2019 Palarong Pambansa on Friday, August 31, 2018. 

“We hope that in our Coordination (and Planning Conference) meeting, we will be able to address some issues and put some recommendations,” Asec. Revsee A. Escobedo, Chief of the Palarong Pambansa Board, said.

  “We are working on the sanitation and the electrification of the areas which will be used for the upcoming sports events. The Palarong Pambansa Logo (also) is a work in progress and will be submitted to the City Mayor’s Office,” SDS Maria Ines C. Asuncion said.

According to P/Supt. Angel Sumagaysay of the Philippine National Police (PNP), the security measures for the upcoming sports events has been taken into good consideration as well. “I think there are no problems with the security. There will be CCTV cameras that will be established,” P/Supt. Sumagaysay remarked.

The representatives from the DepEd Schools Division of Davao City headed by the Schools Division Superintendent Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO V, and City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio duly represented by Atty. Lawrence D. Bantiding, Asst.  City Administrator for Operations (Davao City), Atty. Alberto T. Escobarte, CESO III, DepEd Regional Director, P/Supt. Angel Sumagaysay of PNP and the DepEd Division Sports Committee attended the coordination and planning conference for the 2019 DAVRAA and Palarong Pambansa, scheduled to be officiated on January and April next year, respectively.

Davao Athletes and Coaches Recognition 2018 PDF Print E-mail

DAVAO CITY ― The City Government of Davao, spearheaded by Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, in cooperation with the Sports Development Division of the City Mayor’s Office (SDD-CMO) hosted this year’s Presentation of Awards to the Athletes and Coaches for the Philippine National Games and Palarong Pambansa 2018 during the Davao City Athletes and Coaches’ Recognition (2018) held at The Royal Mandaya Hotel Ballroom, Thursday, August 23, 2018.

Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio, in her opening message, highlighted the importance of sports as the training ground for athletes to develop their skills, maximize their potential, and to craft up and intensify their personal goals for the highly-envisioned trail to success. “Enjoy your youth, enjoy your sports discipline, and always thrive to pursuit happiness,” Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio said in her speech.

“Swimming is amazing. And always remember that the desire for success is greater than the fear of failure,” Juliana Marien E. Villanueva, champion for the Palarong Pambansa swimming event, remarked. 

“I am grateful for the experiences, the learnings I have in Sports; the discipline I need in sports is similar with the discipline I keep in life,” Delmar B. Gato of Sto. Niño National High School, one of the Palarong Pambansa champions, articulated as well.

Camporedondo, CESE and Basilio Mana-ay Jr., CESE, fully support the advocacy of, the execution, the implementation, and the strengthening of the sports education and recreation programs in the city. Fully committed to exercise its duty, the Department of Education Davao City Division pledged to take part in related and relevant athletic endeavors in the coming years.


Random Drug Test in DepEd Davao City PDF Print E-mail

altIn order to promote the maintenance of a safe and healthy environment in workplaces and schools free from the use of dangerous drugs, and to reduce health and safety risks to all learners, the Department of Education – Davao City Division has been conducting random drug test to teaching and non-teaching personnel. Piloted last May 8, 2018, all Division personnel underwent the drug test. Representatives from the Department of Health (DOH) and DepEd medical personnel collaborated to successfully conduct the orientation, specimen collection, and data encoding.

The second implementation of the said activity was conducted last August 13, 2018, participated by randomly selected teaching and non-teaching personnel.

Schools Division Superintendent Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO V has been closely monitoring the conduct of the said activities and further directed that no monitoring or field work shall be done during the activity. True to its commitment to promote drug-free schools and workplaces, SDS Asuncion assures the continual conduct of this kind of initiative, aiming to create a child friendly, safe and motivating learning environment.

2018 Career Guidance Week Celebration PDF Print E-mail


On its fifth year of implementation, the 2018 Career Guidance Week was celebrated last August 1, 2018 at Almendras Gym, Davao City. Participated by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Department of Education (DepEd), Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Professional Regulatory Commission (PRC), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and the various stakeholders, the activity showcased Best Career Practices, Career Information, and Career Jingle Competition.

City Mayor Sara Duterte, duly represented by the City Councilor Pilar C. Braga, truly appreciates this initiative and believes that with the increasing labor turnover among employers across the country, it is only appropriate that we advance the Career Guidance Advocacy Program to improve employment retention rates among Filipinos. Atty. Lea Librado-Yap, Chairperson for Labor and Employment Opportunities expressed that the convergence of various stakeholders made the said activity successful.

Moreover, DOLE Regional Director Raymond G. Agravante emphasized that the Career Guidance Week Celebration is one of the avenues to address the lingering problem of Job Skills Mismatch. With the theme “PH 4.0: Preparing for a Digital Ready Workforce”, RD Agravante posed a challenge on the readiness of our graduates so as not be replaced by artificial intelligence in the field of work.

To encourage all students in pursuing their dreams, Ms. Mary Jane P. Trinidad, Career Ambassador shared that if only people fully realize the importance of career guidance, everyone will be taking advantage of the opportunities to change one’s life and make it better. She further reminded the students to never get scared of the first signs of struggles and challenges.

The Department of Education - Davao City Division spearheaded by Schools Division Superintendent Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO V, Assistant Schools Division Superintendents Emma A. Camporedondo, CESE and Basilio Mana-ay Jr., CESE, and Division Chiefs Teresita F. Del Valle, PhD and Alma C. Cifra, EdD fully support  this activity, and further acknowledge the activity as a vehicle to guide students to make informed decisions in choosing the right career to eventually address the challenge of job mismatch. Committed to do its part, Department of Education Davao City Division pledged to take part in this endeavor.
