In close collaboration with the
Department of Health, the City Government of Davao, and various stakeholders,
the Department of Education Davao City Division launched Oplan Kalusugan (OK) sa DepEd
on July 9, 2018 at Don Juan dela Cruz Central Elementary School, Toril, Davao
City. This new health flagship program of DepEd aims to promote and provide all
learners and DepEd personnel with holistic school health program towards better
learning.
Participated by Division personnel,
Public Schools District Supervisors (PSDSs), Cluster Heads, teachers and
parents, the launching ceremony officially started with an orientation, headed
by Dr. Ritchelle S. Aresco, Medical Officer III. Dr. Aresco emphasized on the
health and nutrition services for public school learners, as well as the basic
medical care to support DepEd personnel. PSDS Ava Marie P. Santiago and School
Principal Jayreen P. Pabi welcomed the participants and extended their
appreciation for the opportunity given to Don Juan dela Cruz Elementary School
to host such an important activity. The support of teachers and the PTA
officers and members significantly contributed to the success of the activity.
Teresita F. del Valle, PhD,
Division Chief, a representative of the Schools Division Superintendent Maria
Ines C. Asuncion, CESO V, reminded the participants about the week-long
activities set in relation to OK sa DepEd. The Weekly Iron Folic Acid Supplementation
kicked-off on July 10, 2018 at F. Bangoy NHS. Nutrition Month and National
School Deworming was launched on July 11 and 12, 2018 at Lower Tamugan NHS and
F. Bangoy CES. The OK sa DepEd Culmination was conducted on July 13, 2018 at
the Davao City National High School.
Barangay Captain Lilibeth Al-ag,
City Councilor Avegayle Dalodo - Ortiz Omalza, and Vice Mayor Bernard Al-ag
also graced the event, and expressed their commitment to maximize and sustain
opportunities for the success of health and nutrition service delivery.
During the program launching, the
learners of Don Juan del Cruz were provided with dental kits while being
entertained with Dr. Rabbit of the Colgate Philippines. Finally, a symbolic
pledge of commitment by Deped personnel, public officials and various
stakeholders ensured the event’s success.

The Department of Education – Davao City Division
and the Davao Light and Power Co. (DLPC) turned over an Electrical Laboratory
Facility to Vicente C. Nograles National High School on July 6, 2018.

the School Principal Redilon S. Morales and the teachers, who have thoughtfully

Facilities in public senior high schools.
The presence of Hon.
Karlo Alexei B. Nograles, Hon. Jericho Jonas B. Nograles, Hon. Rolando Trajera,
and Hon. Allan L. Linao during the turnover ceremony significantly gave impact to
DepEd’s main goal that is to provide safe, inclusive and effective learning
environments for all learners.

DepEd Davao City Division held a
coordination conference in relation to the 2019 hosting of Davao Regional
Athletic Association (DAVRAA) and Palarong Pambansa. The Schools Division
Superintendent Maria Ines Asuncion, CESO V and City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio,
duly represented by Atty. Lawrence Batinding, Asst. City Administrator led the
planning for the upcoming sports events. City Sports Coordinator Michael
Aportodera together with key officers from the City GSO Inspection Division, City
Engineers Office, and DepEd Division Sports Committee discussed on the
procurement updates for the necessary sports supplies and equipment. |
Project INNOTeach, a
partnership with the University of Southeastern Philippines, is one of the countless efforts of the
Department of Education Davao City Division in addressing the challenges of the
21st century teaching and learning.
Mack Arthur
Gamayot, Senior Education Program Specialist, Emmie Cabanlit, EdD., INNOTeach Project
Leader, and some faculty of USEP conducted coaching to school researchers last
June 27 , 2018 at My Hotel, Davao City. The expertise in research of Reynaldo
M. Nogodula, EdD.,OIC- Dean of the College of Education and Lindy C. Lulab ,
EdD., Associate Professor V also gave impact in leading the changes in school
and classroom practices through action research.
The action
research by Paulino S. Angga, a teacher of Davao City Special School, entitled Improving
the Learning Behavior of a Student Mainstreamed in the Regular Class Through
360- Degree Strategy was appreciated by the research panel. The study
was evaluated to be simple yet relevant.
With greater
accountability, the Schools Division Superintendent Maria Ines C. Asuncion,
CESO V firmly believes that it is critical that schools have leaders who are
equipped to improve teaching and learning through research-based plans and
decisions.

In the pursuit for integrity and
commitment to excellence in public service, the Department of Education – Davao
City Division has been conducting a series of seminar on the 2017 Rules on Administrative Cases in the
Civil Service (2017 RACCS) and Program
to Institutionalize Meritocracy and Excellence in Human Resource Management
(PRIME-HRM) for employees in the Division and the School Administrators in
the public elementary and secondary schools. This initiative responds to the
challenge of the Schools Division Superintendent Maria Ines C. Asuncion, CESO V
to all DepEd employees to aim for transparency, accountability, effectiveness
and efficiency in governance. 
During the seminar, Davao City
Field Office Director Minda G. Ostique emphasized on PRIME-HRM as a mechanism
that empowers government agencies through the development of human resource
management competencies, systems, and practices towards excellence. In
addition, employees were reminded of the eight (8) Norms of Conduct under
Republic Act 6713, namely, Commitment to
Public Service, Professionalism, Justness and Sincerity, Political Neutrality, Responsiveness to the Public, Nationalism and Patriotism, Commitment to Democracy, and Simplicity, as standards of personal
conduct in the discharge and execution of official duties
The resource speakers from the
Civil Service Commission (CSC) Region XI discussed the procedures on
disciplinary and non-disciplinary administrative cases in detail. Moreover, salient provisions of the 2017 RACCS
pertaining to complaints in Sexual Harassment cases were also part of the
lecture.
Furthermore, the presence of the CSC
Regional Directors Adam D. Torres and Cyril-Nathan SM. Eamiguel during the open
forum was significant in ensuring participant’s comprehensive grasp of learning
from the topics.

Along with the efforts to strengthen international partnerships, the
Department of Education - Davao City Division started an initial agreement with
the Japan Philippines Volunteer Association (JPVA) last June 18, 2018. JPVA
President Hiromitsu Hashimoto and Schools Division Superintendent Maria Ines C.
Asuncion, CESO V led the planning for the upcoming activities for the Senior
High School Students in Marilog District. Also joined by Division Supervisors
Marilyn Marcelo and Marcelo Roco; School Heads Raul Cabilogan, Mirasol Fabuna
and Francisco Reynaldo; Engr. Christian Lloyd Rosario and the Project
Coordinator Ms. Kanako Takahashi, the group agreed to further strengthen the
shared responsibility for education in public schools. |
