Narrative Report of the Division Launching on the National Greening Program (NGP) Print

National Greening ProgramPursuant to section 2.6 of Executive Order (E.O.) No. 23 and E.O. No. 26, both series of 2011, mandating the DA-DAR-DENR Convergence Initiative to develop a National Greening Program in coordination with DepEd, CHED, DSWD, DBM, private sectors and other concerned agencies and institutions and declaring the implementations of the National Greening Program as a government priority, we, from Toril National High School, as chosen to be Pilot School for the Division Launching, proudly and wholeheartedly accepted the implementation of this program last July 29, 2011 at the vicinity and coastal area of this school, situated at Sirawan Beach, Toril, Davao City.

The program of activities started at 7:00 A.M. with the registration of the participants at the school’s covered court and the at 8:30 A.M., formal launching of the said program began. After the launching, we proceeded to the coastal area for the tree planting. We, together with all the participants, planted almost 170 mangrove seedlings and around 50 mahogany seedlings.

It was participated by the Division NGP Coordinator, Mrs. Betty L. Herceda, Division ALIVE Coordinator, Mrs. Rosalina Mapigid, EPS I, Mrs. Janeth Esteban, School Administrators, District Supervisor, Secondary School Science Coordinators, Student Leaders from other schools, TNHS PTA Officers and Members, Sirawan Community Leaders, Barangay Council of Sirawan and its Functionaries, Toril NHS teachers and students and other visitors who willingly joined the launching. After the tree planting, snack was served. The office of the City Mayor donated “Lugaw” in addition to the little preparations given by the Division Office and Toril NHS for the participants. At 10:00 A.M., all participants went back to their respective offices/schools. It was a successful activity and we extend our gratitude to everyone participated.
