THE 2016 Regional Prisaa Meet opens at 2:30 p.m. Friday at the University of Mindanao (UM) Tagum College Gym in Tagum City.

Private Schools Athletic Association (Prisaa) Davao Region president Ma. Lita Montalban bared this in a media interview at Kuya J restaurant, The Annex of SM City Davao on Thursday.

"But before the opening ceremonies, we will have a solidarity meeting among the coaches to also remind them about the values they need to instill in themselves and in their athletes. We don't like na may mag-away-away sa mga games," Montalban said.

She also said that while the High School division only had five events last year, all events except the search for Mutyang Prisaa will be contested in the division.

Montalban added, "This is what makes this year's Regional Prisaa Meet different. Simultaneous na maglalaro ang collegiate at High School athletes natin in different venues in Tagum City."

Defending champion Davao City Prisaa can't be complacent as Davao del Norte Prisaa and Davao del Sur Prisaa delegations are expected to put up stiff competition in swimming, athletics, badminton, basketball, baseball, softball, tennis, judo, boxing, beach volleyball, volleyball, football and chess, among others.

The dancesports competition, vocal solo contest and the Mutyang Prisaa Davao search will all be held today after the opening program. Guests are Commission on Higher Education (Ched) Davao director Dr. Raul Alvarez and Department of Education (DepEd) Davao director Atty. Alberto Escobarte.

Champions will advance to the National Prisaa Championship slated April 3 to 11 in Koronadal City.
